The Antiga.Net WebProxy (formerly Byte5's Retro WebProxy) is a free service that lets you browse the early web as it existed in the 1990s and early 2000s. Configure your vintage — or modern — browser to use our proxy and step back in time.

We have a special dedication to Brazilian web heritage, but our archive spans international sites too, much like Protoweb.

Brazil had a vibrant, unique internet culture in the late 1990s. ISPs like Mandic and ZAZ, portals like Cadê? and IG, and thousands of personal "homepages" on GeoCities, Terravista and Tripod made up a world that is almost completely lost today. The antiga.net project was born to rescue and preserve that digital memory.

   The project grew! It is now part of the broader antiga.net initiative. The proxy server address and functionality remain the same — only the name and homepage changed.

[?] Is this the same as Protoweb?
   We share the same spirit as Protoweb but are independent. Antiga.Net has a unique focus on Brazilian web history, and our archives include many sites that cannot be found elsewhere.

   Yes! Configure the proxy settings as shown above. For the full nostalgic experience, try Internet Explorer 4 in a virtual machine.

[?] Some pages look broken — why?
   Archived pages sometimes have missing images or broken scripts due to gaps in the original captures. We are constantly improving coverage.
